Product Details

A heavy Derby shoe that bears the brogue detailing synonymous with true country shoes. The Bourton is a piece of Northampton shoemaking history, and today they are the go-to shoe for men all around the world.

A full bellows tongue is folded and attached to the shoe to provide a watertight seal, with the storm welt providing an additional watertight seal between the shoe's upper and sole. The profile of a Bourton is characteristically strong; with a solid sole unit, leather linings and a Dainite sole for practicality.

Acorn Antique is the classic colour synonymous with Tricker's shoes and boots - a rich tan unique to Tricker's that is one of their best sellers. The Acorn Antique colourway works as well today as it has over the decades - it matches as well with a deep indigo denim as it does with Tweed Breeks and long socks.

THE LEATHER: This Bourton is made from calf leather. Calf leather is finer grained, and lighter in weight than the hide of older cattle; this means that it is also more supple. It is very durable in comparison to its thickness. We advise using Neutral Polish to help maintain a pair of shoes in Acorn Antique. If you would like to add some more colour to your Acorn Antique leather then we advise using Fawn Polish.

THE LAST: This last has been used for decades. It is part of the Tricker's history and character as England's oldest shoe manufacturer. The size (length fitting) of Tricker’s footwear made on this last (4444) is larger than a regular UK size by half a size. So if you normally take a UK size 8 (equivalent to US size 9, Japan size 27 and EU size 42), we recommend you order a size 7½ and so on.

THE SOLE: The Dainite Sole - First designed in 1910, this is a rubber sole with large studs that provide grip - whilst not so traditional, they do provide good all-round grip and durability for most surfaces. Dainite products have been produced since 1894 in Market Harborough, England, near Northampton. The Dainite studded sole is one of the most widely known and used products, with its original design as valid today as it was in 1910. It provides grip and comfort in all conditions while not attracting or storing dirt as there are no cleats or heavy grooves to hold it.
